OpenAI Introduces Official iPhone App for ChatGPT

OpenAI has recently unveiled the official iOS app for ChatGPT, marking its foray into the world of smartphone applications. This move adds OpenAI's viral language model to the ever-growing list of third-party mobile AI software available, which leverage the power of the GPT-3.5 and GPT-4 APIs that also drive ChatGPT. Initially, the app is limited to users in the United States, but OpenAI has plans to expand its availability to other countries in the near future.

Syncs With the Desktop Version of ChatGPT

The ChatGPT app from OpenAI offers a familiar user experience, closely resembling the functionalities of the ChatGPT website. However, it incorporates OpenAI's Whisper speech recognition, enabling users to input text using their voice. Subscribers of ChatGPT Plus can conveniently switch between the standard language model and the advanced GPT-4 model within the app. Additionally, the app allows users to access their conversation history, which can be seamlessly synced from the desktop version if they sign in using the same account. Moreover, users have the option to export data and delete or rename conversations. It is important to note that some features, such as live web access offered through OpenAI's recently launched plugins, are currently not available in the app.

Android App Is Coming Soon

OpenAI is not neglecting the Android user base and assures them that they are next in line to receive the ChatGPT app. While the initial release is exclusively designed for iPhones, iPad users can either continue utilizing the ChatGPT website or use the iOS app with some limitations due to the upscaled tablet size.

Will Be Available Worldwide Very Soon

As OpenAI continues to refine and expand its offerings, the ChatGPT app provides a convenient and accessible way for iPhone users to engage with the widely popular language model. With future plans to introduce the app in additional countries and cater to Android users, OpenAI is making strides to bring the power of ChatGPT to a broader audience.
