Some Apple Intelligence Features Will Be Delayed Until After the Fall Launch


Introduction

Apple Intelligence is set to be a game-changing addition to the iPhone, Mac, and iPad lineup this year. When iOS 18, macOS Sequoia, and iPadOS 18 roll out this fall, they will introduce a range of Apple Intelligence features, albeit in beta. However, some highly anticipated features will not be ready at launch and are expected to be introduced over the next year.


Limited Initial Availability

Apple plans to cautiously roll out its AI features to a small subset of users initially. This caution is reflected in both device compatibility restrictions and language limitations. Upon release, Apple Intelligence will only be available on devices set to U.S. English as their default language. This limitation means that most of Apple’s global user base will not have access to these features right away.


Siri Enhancements

Expanded App Actions

Siri is set to receive significant upgrades, making it a more powerful digital assistant. However, the full range of new app-based actions promised by Apple will not be available at launch. While Siri will debut with some enhanced capabilities this fall, the deep integration that allows Siri to perform nearly any action within apps will require more development time and may not be available until 2025.


On-Screen Awareness

Another major improvement for Siri is its on-screen awareness, which will enable Siri to understand and act upon the context of what’s currently displayed on your screen. This feature, allowing commands like “Siri, add this to their contact” while viewing a message with an address, will also not be available this fall. It is expected to be introduced later in the coming year.


Apple Mail Upgrades

Categorization and Message Summaries

The Mail app will eventually gain new features powered by Apple Intelligence, including automatic categorization of messages into Primary, Transactions, Promotions, and Updates, as well as message summaries that highlight important information from emails. These enhancements will not be ready at launch and are likely to arrive in later updates, such as iOS 18.1 or 18.2.


Conclusion

While Apple Intelligence promises to bring powerful new capabilities to Apple devices, many of these features will not be available immediately upon the release of iOS 18, macOS Sequoia, and iPadOS 18.
